• SJ EuroNight 13471 (Göteborg → Berlin via Hamburg): Departs Göteborg C 19:30, arrives Hamburg Hbf 05:49, continues to Berlin Hbf 09:27 (terminus Berlin-Gesundbrunnen ~09:40). Conventional sleeper stock. Accommodation: 6-berth couchette (from ~€45), 2-berth sleeper with washbasin (from ~€80), single sleeper (from ~€165), deluxe sleeper (en-suite shower/WC). Book at sj.se. Opens ~3 months ahead — book from mid-March 2026. 48 min layover in Göteborg sufficient for boarding. Disembark Berlin Hbf (not Hamburg) — extra ~3h40 in bed, skips Hamburg–Hannover construction zone entirely.
• ICE 839 (Berlin → Erfurt): Direct, 1h43. Berlin–Halle–Erfurt line unaffected by 2026 closures (only Erfurt–Nürnberg–Regensburg–Passau corridor closed Feb 7 – Dec 12). Seat reservation optional (€4.50). Verified via db-rest for Jun 13 2026.
• ICE 1101 (Erfurt → München): Direct via Nürnberg–Ingolstadt, 2h29. Arrives München Hbf 18:43, 1h24 buffer before NJ 295 dep 20:07. Backup: ICE 601 Erfurt 16:35 → München 19:08 (59 min buffer), or ICE 1601 17:14 → 19:43 (24 min, risky).
• Erfurt (day stop): Thuringian capital, low tourist density, picturesque medieval Altstadt. Highlights: Krämerbrücke (longest inhabited bridge in Europe N of Alps), Domplatz with twin cathedral + Severikirche, Fischmarkt, Augustinerkloster (Luther site). Lunch: Thüringer Bratwurst (must-try), Thüringer Klöße, Köstritzer Schwarzbier. Luggage storage at Erfurt Hbf. E-scooter rentals on Voi/Tier/Bolt/Lime apps if walking distance is an issue (Hbf to Altstadt = ~10 min walk).
• Nightjet NJ 295 (Munich → Bologna): Departs München Hbf 20:07 Sat Jun 13, arrives Bologna Centrale 05:38+1. Booked: car 414, seats 81/82/83. New-generation Nightjet (Siemens Viaggio Next Level). Breakfast and welcome package included in sleeper/couchette.
• Bologna → Pesaro (RV 3901): Regionale Veloce, no reservation needed with Interrail. Now falls on a Sunday (Jun 14) — likely runs (major trunk route, listed in Trenitalia guaranteed services) but verify Sunday schedule on trenitalia.com closer to departure. Note: NJ 295 has poor punctuality (avg 31 min delay). If delayed, backup: RV 3905 at 07:34, arriving Pesaro 09:30.

Return: Udine → Stockholm (June 30 – July 3)

3.5 days Udine → Stockholm. 3 sleeper trains, 1 day in Vienna, 1 day trip to Lüneburg.

• Vienna: Full day (~11.5h) for sightseeing — Naschmarkt, coffee houses, Schönbrunn, museums. Luggage storage at Wien Hbf.
• Nightjet NJ 490 (Vienna → Hamburg): Departs Wien Hbf 18:36 Wed Jul 1, arrives Hamburg Hbf 08:53+1. Booked: car 415, seats 81/82/83. Daily, all year. New-generation Nightjet (Siemens Viaggio Next Level). Note: Hamburg–Hannover disruption (May 1 – Jul 10) may add ~45 min to arrival — irrelevant with 12h+ buffer before EN 344.
• Lüneburg day trip: metronom RE3 from Hamburg Hbf. Falls on a Thursday (Jul 2) — weekday service with trains every 30 min, ~30 min journey. Hamburg–Hannover disruption (May 1 – Jul 10) may cause minor adjustments but RE3 regional service is largely unaffected. Medieval salt town with Altstadt, Stintmarkt waterfront, local breweries. Return to Hamburg by evening for EN 344.
• SJ EuroNight 344 (Hamburg → Stockholm): Departs Hamburg Hbf 21:53 Thu Jul 2, arrives Stockholm C 09:56 Fri Jul 3. 3 adults booked in couchette compartment, 2nd class, refundable, Interrail/Eurail. Daily except Saturday through July 2026 (SJ subsidy ends Jul 31; service guaranteed for Jul 2). Conventional sleeper stock. Family: 2 adults + 1 youth (age 13 = Youth category, 12–27). Child-goes-free only applies ages 4–11.

The 60-day validity window covers Jun 12 – Jul 3. Travel days consumed by outbound + return routes: 6 of 15, leaving 9 days for Italy.

Night train rule (since 2019): a direct overnight train consumes 1 travel day = the departure date. No second day consumed on arrival, provided no train change after midnight.
